Batman V Superman: Free Advance Screening Tickets Arrive For Fans
By Steve Lam
Can we petition the U.S. Government for a new holiday called “Zack Snyder Appreciation Day”? A special flag flown for this day would be decorated with Snyder’s visage along with a unicorn playing an electric guitar. Why? Because he’s as rare as they come in Hollywood … and he rocks!
Zack Snyder, you da man!
Between Monday evening and early Tuesday morning, fans have started to receive emails containing codes to redeem passes for a special free advance screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yours truly just received his and will be attending the screening on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10:00PM PST. What did I have to do to get this? No, I didn’t have John Constantine perform an incantation for me, or sell my humanity and loyalty to Apokalips. This is how I and the fans who will be attending this screening got the tickets …
In April of 2015, Warner Bros. held a special Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice IMAX Trailer Event at theaters across the United States. Just days before, bootleggers leaked the first teaser for the film, and nervous fans thought the studio would call off the event. However, Warner Bros. kept its word. On top of that, Snyder and the studio — the one which counts a rabbit as its mascot — upped the ante. The teaser included a bit of tiny footage that was never-before-seen, and they also handed out two versions of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie posters.
What those of us in line didn’t know was what Snyder planned as the truly big surprise to loyal fans — a free advance screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The staff coordinating this effort had us write our email addresses down on a slip of paper which had the unified Batman v Superman logo. They then told us that we’d be getting an email next year for the screening. At that point, one year might as well have been 100 years. I can tell you that I have never in my life (okay, maybe when I was doing penmanship homework in the fourth grade) scrutinized my handwriting to the point of OCD-ness (if that’s even a word). Wait, I think that “i” looks like a “1.” What if they get my letter “O” mixed up with the number zero?
As 2016 started to near, I went on Reddit and various sites trying to find any iota of information regarding the status of this advance screening. Trust me, in times like these, the weirdest thoughts go through one’s head (I know, first world problems). Maybe they forgot … They’re a huge studio. Why would they remember little old me? … It was all a gimmick to get fans talking …
From what I was seeing in the forums, I wasn’t the only one thinking these thoughts. At around midnight tonight, my friend John, who I met at the IMAX event, excitedly emailed me that he got his notification from Warner Bros., and told me to refresh my inbox. I F5-ed it and … nothing! You can probably visualize how worried I got at this point. I started scouring the internet for information. Then suddenly, like the Flash, I received the “golden ticket.”
Yes folks, I’m going to be seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice four days in advance of everyone else! I’m ecstatic and anxious. I can’t wait to see both the Man of Steel, the Dark Knight, and the Goddess of Truth appear on-screen in live-action together for the first time. I also want this film to blow all superhero films out of the water. That is, until The Justice League Part One rolls around. For Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you can expect an advance screening review (spoiler-free of course) when I get out of the theaters that night!
For fans who weren’t fortunate enough to receive advance screening passes, you can still see the film a day before its official release (Thursday night showings) by purchasing tickets from Fandango or directly from your local movie theater. Tickets went on sale Monday, February 29, 2016. So get yours today before they’re sold out!
