Green Lantern isn’t in Batman v Superman, probably not in Justice League

It’s been heavily rumored that Green Lantern would make some sort of appearance in Batman v Superman. It seemed almost certain that Dan Amboyer was secretly Hal Jordan even though his character was listed with a totally different name. But Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. says quite different, and in fact we may not be seeing any Green Lanterns for years.

"[Green Lantern] is an incredible character. He’s actually multiple incredible characters. There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy."

So, what about Justice League? Silverman seems to think that the earliest we might see a Green Lantern period is Justice League Part 2, slated to be out in 2019, and that’s at the earliest, meaning we might not see any hint of Green Lanterns until the actual Green Lantern Corps movie out in 2020.

Ok here is where I stop worrying about Batman v Superman, and worry more about Warner Bros. “plan” or lack thereof. You don’t want Green Lantern in BvS? That’s absolutely fine. But with no Lantern and no Martian Manhunter (who hasn’t even been mentioned at all btw), you are missing two of the goddamn founding members of the Justice League. That just seems like haphazard planning at best. I mean, one of the first taglines we saw for Batman v Superman was Aquaman on a poster with “Unite The Seven”. Kinda hard if you only have 5 of the seven. Maybe Justice League will fill in some of those slots with other heroes, we’ll just have to wait and see til next year on that.
