Ben Affleck Talks Batman Legacy
Ben Affleck talks about what he hopes to bring to the legacy of Batman
This March, we get to see Batman on the big screen in Batman v Superman. But of course, we have seen Batman on both the big and small screen many times over the years. Ben Affleck is the latest to take on the mantle of the bat. Ben Affleck talked about what he wanted to bring to the role of the Dark Knight.
"That I wanted was to create a Batman that was sort of at the end of his rope physically and psychologically and emotionally, a guy who was beaten down by the world, a guy who was a little bit more of a slugger, who has more gray in his hair, and who was questioning whether the whole journey that he lived as Batman was in fact even worth it, given that he was not superhero, but now had to face a super-being, which none of the other Batmans had to confront in the movie world."
Ben Affleck also noted that what will make his Batman different from other movie Batmen is that this is the first one having to deal with other heroes, specifically ones far more powerful than any human. Affleck feels that showing how Batman confronts and deals with that is his contribution to the character.

Ben Affleck will be the first Batman actually dealing with otherworldly beings and even humans with special powers in this new DC movie universe, but some of that actually that will apply to Superman as well, his movies have all been solo affairs with no other heroes involved, so no matter what, Batman v Superman will be historic in that respect. Let’s hope that it is handled incredibly well, because the future of DC movies is riding on it.
