Suicide Squad Adding More Humor

Apparently Suicide Squad as is was not what you saw in that trailer

Love it or hate it, Batman v Superman is a pretty humorless film. Suicide Squad, the next film on the DC plate, appears to the exact opposite of that. It had a fun trailer with plenty of jokes and rocking along to the sounds of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. So surely, despite being a film about murderous psychopaths going on a mission that’s likely to end with most of them dead, Suicide Squad looks like a fun time at the movies, right?

Well maybe not as fun as you would be thinking according to Devin Faraci of BirthDeathMovies.Com. According to Faraci, the trailer for Suicide Squad wasn’t really representative of the film. Its a more serious affair as it stands now and it’s not just the best jokes that are in that trailer, ALL of the jokes are in the trailer.

But there’s good news here. According to Faraci, the reactions to the Suicide Squad trailer were SO positive, that Warner Bros. is going to great expense to have re-shoots for Suicide Squad in order to make the film actually resemble what we saw in the trailer (what a novel idea). And it’s not even really adding a lot more jokes to the film, but having more fun character moments and interactions. As opposed to say Batman v Superman where the 3 principal characters barely interacted until the final act of the film.

In my opinion this is definitely a good thing. Don’t get me wrong, you could do a deadly serious Suicide Squad movie and it could totally  work, but that is also really what was not represented in the trailer, and I think people would feel scammed frankly that they were led to believe Suicide Squad is one type of movie from the trailer and get something totally different when they actually see it in theaters. Suicide Squad is set to open August 5th, 2016. That’s still plenty of time, so I doubt this re-shoots will delay the release date.
