Margot Robbie describes Harley Quinn’s relationship with the Joker in Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is the next DC joint coming our way in several months, and for the first time we will see Harley Quinn on the big screen. But a big part of Harley Quinn is her damaged relationship with the Joker. Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad talked about who Harley is in Suicide Squad and what Quinn’s relationship with the Joker is like.

"She’s definitely one of the more unpredictable members of the squad. She also used to be a psychiatrist so she has an extensive knowledge of mental illnesses and how to manipulate people — I’m sorry, well, she has a lot of knowledge on how to profile people, pick their triggers, and as Harley Quinn she kind of utilizes that to just manipulate people and mess with them. And she definitely does that with the squad. She’s always picking someone to be dissecting and playing off and messing with."

"She’s mad about him — like, literally, mad. She’s crazy. But she loves him. And it’s a really unhealthy, dysfunctional relationship. But an addictive one."

That is probably how the relationship between Harley And Joker should be in Suicide Squad.  I also really like that it seems they will be using Quinn’s skills as a psychologist, which they could’ve just ignored. But assuming we get to see a lot of more of both Harley Quinn & The Joker in the DCEU post-Suicide Squad, I would really like to see her become independent of The Joker and realize her own self worth like she has in the comics. Hey, there’s your idea for a Harley Quinn movie! In the meantime, Suicide Squad opens in theaters August 5th.
