James Gordon Won’t Have A Big Part In Justice League
JK Simmons confirms a small role in Justice League, that could grow into something more
James Gordon is alive in the DCEU! Which is good because there was a rumor for awhile that he was dead. We will first see him pop up in the Justice League movie next year with actor JK Simmons filling the role. But Justice League is far from a Batman-centric film (one would think anyways), so will James Gordon even have much of a role in Justice League? JK Simmons answers that question:
"I don’t get started on that until June, and my part in the first one is very small. I’m excited to be playing that iconic character in that iconic series.I’m going into a thing that hopefully will be 2, 3, 4, maybe more movies for me, and my part in the first one is really very small. But obviously, we know who the guy is. We know his whole backstory, based on the comic book. So, I’m just gonna finish doing my research on that. And probably not watch the other actors who have played the part, because that is kind of intimidating, honestly, and I don’t think I would find that to be productive. So, I’ll do my take."

Not a surprise that Simmons’ role in Justice League is a small one, it’s bound to be a film jam-packed with characters. There’s little doubt Gordon will appear in the recently confirmed solo Batman movie being directed by Ben Affleck. And obviously it would be great if Simmons takes on the role several more times because odds are at least one of those would be another Batman film (or possibly even a Batgirl film?). Justice League: Part One is filming now and expected to release in theaters November 17, 2017.
