The first trailer for the animated R-rated Killing Joke movie has arrived!

Is the wait almost over for the Killing Joke movie? It seems like forever ago the animated adaptation of Alan Moore’s seminal Killing Joke novel. What many consider the defining Batman & Joker story. The wait only seemed to become longer as it was announced that much of the team behind the excellent DC cartoon series Batman: The Animated Series & Justice League would be reuniting for the film such as executive producer Bruce Timm, longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill, who is pretty much the definitive voice of the animated Joker along with Tara Strong as Batgirl.

Well, as we inch closer and closer to some kind of release date, we are still getting more and more tidbits to try and satiate us. There was an in-depth look released a little while ago, and now, we have the first official trailer for The Killing Joke!

It sports a very different look from the Batman: The Animated series cartoon that this team is mostly associated with, but that’s probably for the best as The Killing Joke isn’t just a mature film, it’s rated R. The first R-rated DC animated film ever, and the second R-rated Batman film if you count the upcoming director’s cut of Batman v Superman, which has been rated R. Next: Extended Preview Of The Killing Joke Movie

The most infuriating thing about this is that it still doesn’t show a release date for the Killing Joke. We know it is having it’s premiere at this year’s San Diego Comic Con in late July, so I guess we’ll just have to wait until then to actually get a release date. Just salivate over the trailer and the extended preview in the meantime…
