Preview: Nighthawk #1 From Marvel Comics
By D. Goodman
Thanks to Marvel Comics we present a preview of Nighthawk #1, a new ongoing series spinning out of the pages of Squadron Supreme.
If you were a fan of Supreme Power, the old Marvel MAX series from the minds of writer J. Michael Straczynski and artist Gary Frank, then you no doubt remember that title’s version of the vigilante Nighthawk.
Unlike the more well-known version from the classic Squadron Supreme miniseries, this version of Nighthawk was African-American and it took the concept of someone who uses the wealth to train and become a vigilante to an almost absurd degree. Nighthawk in Supreme Power was a cold-blooded killer who would make the Punisher look like a wuss by comparison.
While Supreme Power started strong but kind of fizzled out towards the end, fans regardless have very fond memories of that version of the team. Many were very happy to see that Nighthawk was featured in the new Squadron Supreme series by James Robinson and Leonard Kirk that spun out of the pages of Secret Wars.

The new Nighthawk series is going to be written by David Walker with art by Ramon Villalobos and features the vigilante on his own and dispensing justice to those that deserve it.
From the Marvel press release:
"He is Chicago’s lethal vigilante – dispensing swift and vicious justice to those who truly deserve it. But when the city’s shadiest power brokers begin turning up dead – each murdered more gruesomely than the last – Nighthawk must ask himself the hard questions. Does this killer deserve to be caught? What does he want? More importantly, what does the killer have to do with Nighthawk? To answer those questions – Nighthawk might have to look in the mirror first."
Nighthawk #1 goes on sale May 25, 2016 and features a cover by Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz with variant covers by Rafael Albuquerque, Skottie Young, John Tyler Christopher and Sienkiewicz.
