Supergirl: Five Things We Want In Season 2

The Supporting Cast

While Alex Danvers and Cat Grant were both a highlight of the first season, the supporting cast needs work, especially at the DEO.

At times during the season it felt like the writers were thinking to themselves “Flash has a team, Green Arrow has a team, so of course Supergirl needs a team.” The problem is that this is Supergirl were talking about, the cousin of Superman, the most powerful hero in the world.

If they really want the DEO to be an important part of Supergirl going forward, it needs to be fleshed out and given more of a reason for being. The DEO in Season 2 can’t simply be the ones giving Kara orders and acting like a shadowy covert government operation. It just doesn’t work that well in the context of they type of show the producers are driving for Supergirl to be.

Either expand and further explain why the DEO exists or just have them fade into the background. Either way will benefit Supergirl greatly.
