Ben Affleck Becomes Executive Producer On Justice League

Ben Affleck gets more creative control on the Justice League movie, but will it be enough?

Justice League seems like a movie rife for failure, because despite overwhelmingly negative reaction to the underperforming Batman v Superman, Warner Bros. just plunged ahead anyways with Zack Snyder still behind the helm for the ultimate DC superhero team up in the Justice League moive.  How does Warner Bros. intend to make Justice League more of a “crowd pleaser” as has been mentioned in the past? The simple answer is by a lot more micromanaging and being more hands on. Which reportedly has already lead to Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. butting heads quite often during the filming of Justice League.

However this latest move may serve as compromise for both sides. Ben Affleck has been named as executive producer on Justice League. Now, before you consider that Snyder essentially getting booted from his own movie, at best this means that Affleck will work together with Snyder and Justice League writer Chris Terrio to make the movie, rather than anything that resembles full control. Also it’s been said that Affleck is doing this as a show of support for Snyder, who he got along very well with during the making of Batman v Superman, so before you think of Affleck as the savior of the DCEU, just consider that he was really behind Snyder’s vision for the universe before people actually reacted to the finished product.

But maybe this is exactly what Snyder needs. Someone who is supportive, and can act as a mediator between him and the studio on Justice League, but still reign him in when needed. When George Lucas gets reigned in, you get A New Hope. When you gave him carte blanche, we got the prequels. Bottom line, consider Affleck being more involved in the creative process of Justice League most likely a good thing. Justice League is filming now and due to come out November 17th, 2017.
