Preview: Faith #1 From Valiant Entertainment

Thanks to Valiant Entertainment, we have a preview of the Faith #1, the first issue of their breakout characters ongoing series.

I think we all saw this coming, yes?

I knew Valiant had something special on their hands when I saw the sheer amount of positive press they were getting for the first issue of the Faith miniseries. A character like this, who looks a heck of a lot more like you and I than Superman or Wonder Woman ever will, was long overdue and a welcome site at the comic shop.

Thankfully, Valiant decided to go all-in and instead of another miniseries Faith is graduating to her very own ongoing series starting in July. The launch will be part of the Future of Valiant promotion the company is doing to drum up interest in a number of new titles hitting stores over the course of the rest of the year.

More from Comics

But it is safe to say that more than enough people are already excited about Faith, don’t you think?

The new series will be by the creative team of writer Jody Houser and artists Pere Perez and Marguerite Sauvage and sees Faith “Zephyr” Herbert hit the skies of Los Angeles to right wrongs and, unfortunately, discover her very own arch enemy.

From the Valiant press release:

"In a city under siege by robots, aliens, monsters and even worse… celebrities, there is only one woman the people of Los Angeles can count on: the stratospheric superhero called Faith! Aspiring reporter by day and dedicated crime-fighter by night, Faith has tackled every obstacle in her path with confidence – like those crushing deadlines at work, the long-distance boyfriend half a world away, and the missing back issues that plague her comics collection! But, unbeknownst to her, Faith is about to collide with the one force she never saw coming: an up-and-coming super-villain bent on snuffing her out once and for all! But who is lurking behind the mask of her new foe…and could they just be the one person capable of rendering Faith powerless?"

Faith #1 goes on sale July 20, 2016 and features covers by Kevin Wada, Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic, Cary Nord and Emanuela Lupacchino as well as variants by Perez, Kano and Colleen Coover.
