Irons: Batman v Superman Deserved Bad Reviews

Jeremy Irons believes Justice League will be a better, more focused film than Batman v Superman

Batman v Superman did not get a good critical reception. That’s just simple fact. A lot of people, ranging from Henry Cavill to Zack Snyder and Jesse Eisenberg have tried to defend the movie, but not Jeremy Irons, who played Alfred Pennyworth in Batman  v Superman. He totally thinks Batman v Superman deserved those bad reviews:

"Deservedly so. I mean it took £800 million, so the kicking didn’t matter but it was sort of overstuffed, it was very muddled. I think the next one will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear."

When Irons says “the next one”, he is referring to Justice League Part One, which will be out next year. And we’ve all heard the rumors about Justice League. It will be brighter, more of a “crowd pleaser”. I have to wonder though. Batman v Superman, which I didn’t think was good, but didn’t think as poorly of as some others did, was a muddled mess, and that was with only 2 primary characters (Wonder Woman was barely in it) and one major antagonist. Justice League will have at least 6 primary heroes to keep track of if it actually will be less muddled and overstuffed than Batman v Superman was. Zack Snyder, however reduced is still the director. Between all the power shifts and reports of butting heads, I’m not even sure what Warner Bros. mandated “crowd-pleaser” directed master of grimdark (and I don’t mean that in a good way) Zack Snyder will even look like. But honestly, I’m pretty damn curious to find out. And we will when Justice League: Part One opens in theaters November 17th, 2017.
