Get an early look at Batman: Rebirth #1

A new era of Batman starts this Wednesday with Batman: Rebirth #1, and so much has changed. If you read the mega one-shot Rebirth comic, you know that there are now three Jokers, but that’s hardly all (and not what the first issue deals with, but we’ll get back to that in a bit). Bruce Wayne has been rejuvenated, he’s physically younger and stronger than he’s been in ages. So yes, Batman has had a literal “rebirth” of his own. Batman: Rebirth #1 also represents a major change in the team bringing you the main Batman title, as it is no longer the long-running, critically acclaimed team of writer Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.  Taking over for that duo are Tom King (Grayson, Omega Men, Vision) on writing duties and Mikel Janin (Grayson, Justice League Dark) on art (though Scott Snyder shares co-writing credit on this first issue before moving onto his new gig at Detective Comics). The first villain the newly “rebirthed” faces? The Calendar Man, who from the description, looks to want to cause trouble all year round. Next: Rebirth Getting Second More Expensive Printing

Admittedly, Calendar Man seems like an odd choice for Batman’s first big villain, he’s usually considered one of Batman’s more ridiculous villains. But maybe this is a chance for a sort of “rebirth” for him as well? I’m certainly interested in finding out. Batman: Rebirth #1 will be available this Wednesday, July 1st a will be an ongoing bi-monthly series, but will also be $2.99, so it won’t be horribly expensive to keep up with.
