Injustice 2 In 2017?

Injustice 2 might be coming our way next year

Injustice: Gods Among Us was probably one of the best surprises of 2013. Not that people didn’t want a fighting game featuring DC’s greatest heroes and villains, bit given that the last DC effort by NetherRealm studios, DC vs. Mortal Kombat was ok, but really didn’t live up to its true potential, I don’t think anyone was that psyched about them doing another game featuring DC characters.

But Injustice: Gods Among Us came out and it was pretty fantastic. It took a bit of liberties with things so characters like Harley Quinn & Green Arrow actually stood a chance against guys like Superman, but it had a compelling story and very fun combat. So it seemed like a sequel was inevitable.

And next year, the inevitable may be happening. Push Square quotes a French site saying that we are indeed getting Injustice 2 in May of 2017. Granted, a foreign website quoting anonymous inside sources is about as shaky as rumors can get, but not making an Injustice 2 in the near future just seems like leaving a ton of money of the table. Plus, it will fall between the release of DC’s two big comic book films for 2017, Wonder Woman and Justice League: Part One. I’m willing to bet someone at Warner Bros. wants there to be some game for people to pay money for tied to the DC Universe besides DC Universe online, so that seems like a no-brainer decision as well.

Injustice 2 seems like one of the most no-brainer decisions in recent history, so I really hope it’s true. Obviously it would be great to see most if not all of the original characters return, but I also think it would be great if they went even more nuts and included like 20 more characters. Hopefully Injustice 2 will make an appearance at E3, or we’ll get an official announcement real soon.
