The Batman Movie Will Have Original Story
The Batman movie won’t adapt a story from the comics
We don’t know a ton about the Batman movie at this point. We know Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns are co-writing a script together, and Ben Affleck is of course starring but also directing the solo Batman movie. That’s really it. There’s been rumors of it being a team-up film with Will Smith’s Deadshot from Suicide Squad, an adaptation of The Red Hood storyline, and regardless of the story it, might also be loaded with famous Batman villains. It could be all of those things combined into one film for all we know. But one more bit of information we’ve gotten from the Dark Knight himself, Ben Affleck, is that the movie’s story will not be a adaptation of any current Batman story:
"I think what I would do, what I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it because I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics."

Of course the problem with that statement is Zack Snyder really didn’t create an original story. He just awkwardly jammed together Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman into to one of the least cohesive things to ever be put on the big screen. But I honestly have more faith that Ben Affleck, who is a much better director, can make an original story while borrowing some elements from the comics and make it actually work. The Batman movie is still in development at the moment with no solid release date, but if we’re lucky, maybe it will slide into that still not claimed 2018 spot.
