The DC Superhero Girls get their first movie!
DC Superhero Girls has had quite the evolution. First it was pretty much just a website for a brand of upcoming figures and clothing. Then it also had a web series. Then it also got a TV show. And now it’s getting a movie!
DC Superhero Girls: Hero Of The Year is the first feature film based off the recent property and will be coming out on digital and physical formats later this year. Check out the synopsis and trailer for DC Superhero Girls: Hero of The Year Below:

I know they are reformed in the series (and for the most part in the comics) but I find Batgirl saying “this is a school for superheroes, not supervillains” really ironic because you know, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are key characters that go to the school in the show. Not much is revealed of the plot, but probably some kind of contest for “superhero of the year” is part of it while they deal with the big bad of the movie at the same time. The DC Superhero Girls brand in general has obviously been a pretty positive thing for young girls who want to be like the heroes of the comics and this movie looks to continue that trend. DC Superhero Girls: Hero Of The Year will be out on digital download and DVD (but not blu-ray?) August 23rd.
