Mark Hamill Not Attending San Diego Comic Con
Mark Hamill is sadly a little too busy to attend San Diego Comic Con
San Diego Comic Con 2016 will be upon us in just a little over a month, and many stars of many current and upcoming comic and film (and video game) projects will be in attendance to promote their upcoming works.
One celebrity, who is a San Diego Comic Con regular whether he has a project to promote or not is Mark Hamill, who as both Luke Skywalker & The Joker pretty much has permanent pop culture god status that will always make him a relevant person at these kind of events. This year, he actually has a good reason to show up though, as San Diego Comic Con will host the world premiere of the animated adaptation of the seminal “The Killing Joke” graphic novel, which while technically a Batman story, is definitely more of a Joker story. One which Hamill is reprising his role as the Joker for.
Sadly, Mark Hamill told Entertainment Weekly that his shooting schedule is so busy (i.e. Star Wars Episode VIII), he doesn’t think he’ll make it to San Diego Comic Con this year:
"It doesn’t look like I’m gonna be able to make it this year, because of the shooting schedule here. I don’t get back until the third week in July. I wanted to go, because that’s where they’re gonna premiere The Killing Joke, and Kevin Conroy is gonna be there. I’d love to see it with an audience. But it doesn’t look like my schedule’s gonna allow it this year. My major obligation right now, obviously, is to Episode VIII."

Obviously that kind of sucks that we won’t get to see the voice of The Joker promoting his newest project at the biggest comic convention in the U.S., but it shouldn’t derail hype or enjoyment of the event much because San Diego Comic Con is just so packed every year. SDCC runs from July 21-24th.
