Stephen Amell Really Wants To Be The Riddler
Stephen Amell wants to slip on another green costume once he’s done with Arrow
Stephen Amell seems pretty comfortable playing comic book superheroes, being the star of the hit TV show Arrow for several years now and recently played Hockey-themed vigilante Casey Jones in the new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. But would Stephen Amell still want to play another comic book character when he hangs up the quiver and is all done with Arrow? The answer is definitely yes, and it’s another guy who wears a lot of green, but this time it would be as one of Batman’s most notorious and challenging villains:
"I always get this question. I think all the superheroes are taken now. I’ll play The Riddler, okay? It’s a villain, but I like The Riddler."

Well, no Stephen Amell, all the superheroes are not taken, though you might argue that most of the top tier ones are. But hey, that’s what reboots are for! But This also is far from the first time Stephen Amell has said that he would like to play The Riddler at some point, so he’s been fairly consistent about it.
That being said, while I like Stephen Amell and generally like Arrow as a show (the last two seasons have been kinda rough though), and it’s great that he would want to take on a role that’s so different from his previous work, I really don’t think he’s shown anything that makes me believe he could pull off a convincing Riddler performance. He could probably be a perfectly decent Azrael, who is sometimes a Batman friend and sometimes a foe. I think he might be an interesting choice for casting as a character like Zasz or maybe even Hush. It’s not that he couldn’t do a great job as a major Batman villain, but I’m just not seeing him as The Riddler. Of course, how many people didn’t see Heath Ledger as Joker or Ben Affleck as Batman? You never know.
