Sefton Hill talks about why Rocksteady Games is doing Arkham VR

E3 certainly turned out to be pretty Batman heavy. The Dark Knight features in no less than 3 major new titles coming in the next year or so. But the biggest surprise featuring Batman had to be Rocksteady’s new exclusive game for the PlayStation VR, Arkham VR. ANd not just because it’s a Batman VR game. But because Arkham VR is by Rocksteady Games, who after doing nearly a decade of Batman games, said they were very ready to take a break from Batman if not being done with the character altogether.

But as Rocksteady Games Co-Founder and Director Sefton Hill describes it, when they were approached to do a VR game for the PlayStation VR, doing something with the Arkham series seemed a very interesting way to expand the franchise. It was a way to tell a deeper Batman story. In the video below, Geoff Keighley and Sefton Hill talk about what it is like to step into the cape, the cowl and the world of Batman in Arkham VR:

Hoo boy. 60 minutes? Look, I don’t want to be judgemental on game length. I have enjoyed a ton of games that are only a couple hours long or less. Quality over quanitity. But if this is a $60 game for your newly purchased $400 peripherial (and maybe you bought a new PS4 too, that’s another $300), this seems like an incredibly poor value, Like this almost seems like something that should be included on a demo pack that comes with the system to get you psyched about the potential of the PlayStation VR, not it’s own seperate thing you have to buy. PlayStation VR launches October 13th and Arkham VR is also out in October, but not currently confirmed as a launch day title.
