Poison Ivy Officially Recast For Gotham
Poison Ivy will be aged up and recast for season 3 of Gotham
Well, it had been more or less officially known, but today it was actually announced that season 3 of Gotham will be seeing a very different Poison Ivy. Clare Foley is officially out and actress Maggie Geha (Ted 2) is in as Ivy Pepper/Pamela Isley/Whatever name she’s going to go by. But Maggie Geha won’t just randomly pop as an older version of the character with no rhyme or reason, there will actually be an explanation of why the character suddenly looks significantly older, and this is the explanation officially from Fox:
"Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill,” which finds her “reborn.” Now, the character is older, and “one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy."
That doesn’t really state whether or not we will actually see a scene where this actually happens though. Although the age difference between this new, older Ivy will be more significant in both the actors playing the roles and the actual characters. Maggie Geha is 28 and will be playing a 19-year old, and David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne on Gotham is 15. And it’s specifically mentioned that Ivy sets her sights on young Mr. Wayne.

Whether this will result in a stronger character on Gotham is anybody’s guess, but honestly , I just feel bad for Clare Foley. She was never given a whole lot to do in the first two season of Gotham, and it is kind of a crummy thing for the producers to decide they want to get to Poison Ivy faster, so let’s throw out this actress we’ve established and get a new older one. And frankly, that’s not even getting into the fact that they are obviously going to have to tip-toe around anything romantic or sexual between Ivy and Bruce Wayne very carefully because otherwise that’s getting in statutory rape category. I guess we’ll see how this all works out when Season 3 of Gotham premieres on Fox September 19th.
