Telltale’s Batman In August

Telltale’s Batman game will finally get a trailer next week, and the first episode is coming next month

Honestly, after what initially seemed like a summer swamped with Batman games (Return To Arkham, Arkham Knight GOTY & Telltale’s Batman), it seemed like we might not even get one. Arkham Knight GOTY was listed by a German retailer for July, but no news since that hit like a month ago, Return To Arkham has been delayed for the foreseeable future, and while we’ve seen screenshots and there was a demo played at E3, Telltale’s Batman game was kind of conspicuous in that the public hadn’t seen any gameplay or trailers yet and Telltale admittedly has a history of not being great with releasing stuff in a timely manner.

But apparently that’s all going to be resolved starting next week during this year’s San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). According to a new post on Telltale’s own blog, on the evening of July 23rd, there will be a public event hosted by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller and Troy Baker, who is playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the game. This will be a live play event where we will get the first trailer (although the language of the statement is rather vague, the trailer may drop sometime next week before the actual event), and they will actually play through a portion of the first episode of Telltale’s Batman on the stage and take suggestions from the crowd about what decisions to make.

The first episode of Telltale’s Batman game will come out digitally in August, with an exact date to be revealed when the trailer drops next week. Furthermore, there will be a retail disc version available on September 13th at retailers. This “season pass” retail version of Telltale’s Batman will contain the first episode and then you can just download the episodes as they come because you have already paid for them in advance. No MSRP was mentioned, but I’d guess $29.99 for a physical version.

So to sum up, we will get the world premiere trailer, gameplay and exact release date of the first episode of Telltale’s Batman game next Saturday evening during SDCC. Telltale’s Batman will be coming on most formats this August.
