No Bat-Family Members On CW Superhero Shows

Batman and the Batclan won’t be showing up on the CW’s slate of superhero shows

Earlier this year, right before San Diego Comic Con in fact, it was reported that Batwoman & Oracle would be joining Supergirl in its second season. It was also reported that the main thing holding Batman from appearing on the CW was a licensing fee from Fox but that it was being worked out. SDCC came and went with none of this being confirmed, but fans will still certainly hoping this was the case and that the Bat-family would be making their long-overdue live-action TV debut.

Well here comes Greg Berlanti to squash your dreams. The man behind the Arrowverse confirmed to IGN that such rumors were “completely baseless” and that there were no plans to integrate Batman or any Bat-characters into any show.

Now of course the Arrowverse has made some veiled references to Wayne Enterprises and Batman villains such as Ra’s Al Ghul and Deathstroke have appeared on CW shows. This certianly plants the seeds should plans change, which I’m sure is the idea.

There could be various reasons why we aren’t seeing Batman or any his various partners on the CW. It could be that WB has bigger plans for them and doesn’t want them on TV. It could also be that Berlanti likes these definitely lesser known heroes and wants them to get their spotlight.

This could of course change. Superman was never supposed to be seen on Supergirl, which led to him being on the show, but in really odd ways like online messaging and silhouettes. Bottom line, don’t expect any of the Bat-clan to show up on the CW in the next year, but that could still change any time. Especially if DC TV continues to be beloved while films flop.
