Gotham: Jerome Planned To Return In Season 4
Jerome Valeska is almost definitely returning to Gotham, and the groundwork for that will be laid out in the upcoming season.
There’s no question that Cameron Monaghan as Jerome Valeska was one of the most popular characters in Gotham’s short run so far. So it was kind of shocking when he got brutally killed off only a few epsiodes into the second season. But as we have seen, in Gotham death is only a temporary setback. So will Jerome return? The producers certainly plan on it assuming Gotham goes to season 4 as Executive Producer John Stephens explains:
"It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back. We’re going to be playing it again this year and basically extending the idea of the cult of Jerome,” Stephens explains. We’re building the architecture for him to come back. You’ll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he’s going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist. Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we’ll bring that back in a much bigger way and you’ll see these different versions of the Joker myth.He plays into the idea of transformation. When he comes back, you want to see that new version. That next step forward."
Next: Gotham: Villains Have Shared Mission
I’m pretty confident that Gotham will have a season 4. It’s gotten an extremely early renewal twice already. And Fox really seems to like the one-two punch of two DC comic book shows on their Monday night programming (Lucifer is a DC propery as well). So look for lots of signs of Jerome in season 3 and for him to actually pop up either at the very end of this season or sometime next season. Evolved. Possibly with paler skin and green hair….
