Gotham: Poison Ivy Has No Powers. Yet….

Poison Ivy won’t have any unusual powers aside from some rapid age growth in the upcoming season of Gotham

There’s going to be a lot of new faces showing up in the third season of Gotham, but one of them is a new face (and body) of a familiar character. Poison Ivy is going to experience one hell of a growth spurt in season 3 and will be played by actress Maggie Geha. This Poison Ivy won’t have any special abilities or powers, though, so if she’s seducing someone, it’s using her natural charms as Maggie  Geha herself explained:

"I don’t think we’ll see any super powers stuff. I think that would be way further down the line especially since this is an origin story show… So I think it’s going to be more about discovering how other people perceive her and what means. A lot of people are focused on her sexuality. I think Ivy, in my opinion, doesn’t really feel sexual about anybody. I think if she notices this person is attracted to me, finds me appealing in a sexual way, I’m going to use that to my benefit. It’s more of a manipulative thing than anything."

it was definitely speculated that someone Poison Ivy would be using her natural charms on is Bruce Wayne, which was definitely frowned upon. But it was clarified that their relationship after Ivy’s change is more sibling-like:

"They’re definitely going to have a relationship with each other. It’s not going to be a romantic one, necessarily. It’s going to be more of a sister figure to him. They’ll be very involved with each other. And they will have major influences in each other’s lives. She will be a major part of his life, especially towards the middle of this season."

Thank god they aren’t trying to do anything romantic with an older Ivy and a still teenaged Bruce Wayne. And Ivy not having powers is fine. Aside from an immunity from toxins, she didn’t really have powers for years, just raised super dangerous plants and knew how to make deadly poisons. She didn’t become some kind of plant god for a long time. Season three of Gotham starts September 19th on Fox!
