New Arkham VR Trailer
Attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic Con got to “wear the cowl” and try Arkham VR for the first time
We seem to have no shortage of Batman games in 2016. One of the more original ones takes advantage of new technology to give players a unique experience though. Rocksteady Games’ Arkham VR is coming exclusively to the PlayStation VR peripherial in October. It allows people to literally be the Batman like never before. You get to directly step into the cape and cowl and see Batman’s world through his eyes.
We’ve seen brief trailers here and there. And a few journalists have hand some hands on time with Arkham VR. But the public got its first taste at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. And judging by this just released trailer, they really liked that taste. Check out the reaction trailer that does contain just a little bit of footage for Arkham VR below:
Next: Arkham Knight GOTY Edition Soon, Maybe?
I would’ve loved to see a clip of someone vomiting and still saying it was awesome. That would’ve been hilarious and it probably happened because some people just can’t handle VR well. Will Arkham VR be a great experience that really lets you “be the Batman” for the first time? Actually from descriptions I’ve heard so far, it doesn’t sound like that is actually what you do.
What the game truly seems to do is take the “detective” parts out of the Arkham games and put them in first person for you to solve. If this was a $60 game, I might not be ok with that. But the price is a mere $19.99. This shouldn’t be what sells you on PlayStation VR.
I’m not positive there is anything that really can at the moment. It’s a $400 add-on to a currently $350 system (more if you are thinking of getting that new “Neo” model coming later this year). And doesn’t seem to have anything super compelling to play on it. That being said, hey if you are getting this anyways (and frankly if I had the finances this year I might because I like new shiny video game things), this experience for $20 that let’s you see the world of Batman from a really unique perspective is probably worth checking out. Both Arkham VR and PlayStation VR release on October 13th.
