Check out the trailer promoting the upcoming animated film Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders, based on the 1960s Batman TV show!

Batman, the 1960s TV show (also known as “Batman ’66”) definitely holds a place in a lot fans hearts young and old. They appreciate the fun and campy spirit of the show. That’s why you continue to see things like TV shows (Batman: Brave and The Bold) and comics (Batman ’66) based on the spirit of that show.

Well now we can really get into the show itself all over again with the announcement and first trailer for the animated movie Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders! Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders features much of the original cast from the 1960s TV show including Adam West Batman, Burt Ward & Julie Newmar. Check out the first trailer which promotes the movie in a fairly clever way below:

Batman, fighting his greatest foes. IN SPACE! Definitely sounds like a movie worthy of the 1960s TV show. This is a project that Adam West has been mentioning off and on for awhile now, but this is the first official announcement and teaser for it. Sadly, most of the cast has passed away. So while West, Ward & Newmar will be reprising their famous roles, there will clearly be different people voicing Joker, Penguin & Riddler.

I’m not the biggest fan of the 1960s TV show but homages to that style done right can be a lot of fun. So I’m definitely looking forward to Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders, which looks to just be a fun movie evoking the style of the classic TV show.  And the release isn’t even that far off. Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders comes out on Digital HD October 11th and a Blu-ray & DVD release follows November 1st.
