Is Kieran Mulcare Solomon Grundy on Gotham season 3?

Season two of Gotham was chock full of new villains. Season 3 looks to bring even more into the fold, some with mysterious, scary and downright dangerous abilities. We know one of those villains is Solomon Grundy. Grundy is one of DC’s most powerful villains, being a nigh-unstoppable giant zombie who is constantly resurrected.

And now set pics like this one have people wondering if this is Solomon Grundy on the set of Gotham. Or at least some proto-version of him. The actor in the picture is Kieran Mulcare. Mulcare is probably best known as the neighbor who was a little bit simple but had a crush on Jessica Jones in the recent Netflix series.

There has been no official announcement from Warner Bros. or Fox regarding any casting for the role of Grundy. This is really all speculation at this point. But the actor certainly looks pale like a zombie. And he is sporting the white hair that is a trademark of the character.

I think Mulcare’s character has at least some relation to Grundy in some fashion. It’s very important to remember when we are talking about Gotham, they often delve into these characters before they are who they were in the comic pages. Sometimes it’s a character practically in their infancy, just starting to learn who they are and what they can really do.

If this is indeed Solomon Grundy, it may not even be the Solomon Grundy we are familiar with. It could be the very first version of such a character in Gotham, that will eventually lead to the real Grundy later on down the line. We’ve seen this with several characters on the show already. If there’s no official announcement, we’ll find out for ourselves soon enough when Gotham returns for season 3 September 19th on Fox!
