Gotham: You Heard Jerome’s Laugh In Season 2
The season 2 finale of Gotham featured lots of fearsome monsters. And a familiar laugh….
Gotham pulled out some big shockers even early into it’s second season. One of the biggest being Jerome stabbed to death by Theo Galavan. I mean the two seemed like good buds, or at least partners in mayhem. But as we were to learn later in the season, death is not the end for many in Gotham. Galavan & Fish Mooney were both brought back to life. So has Jerome already been brought back? We did see a pale man in a robe with ginger red hair among all the monsters released from that bus at the end of season 2. Along with hearing a very familiar laugh. You can hear it for yourself in this clip from the season finale:
Gotham Executive Prouducer Ken Woodruff confirms what you may have already guessed:
"The [laugh] was really to keep [the Joker] alive, to keep Jerome and that threat of the Joker alive. We wanted to make sure fans don’t feel that we’re completely done with [the mythology of the Joker] because we are 100 percent, absolutely not. [But,] it’s not going to be something we delve into right way at the top of the season."

Now, it’s already been virtually confirmed that Jerome is coming back. We just really don’t know when. It most likely won’t even be addressed in the first half of the season. It’s even been mentioned we might not even see Jerome until season 4. That’s assuming Gotham gets renewed for season 4. But it’s made it this long and usually gets early renewals so that seems likely.
You will definitely at least see the cult of Jerome rise in season 3. Be sure to check that and all the other monsters terrorizing Gotham when it returns September 19th on Fox!
