Ninjak #19, in stores Wednesday, continues the exploration of what will become one of the most formidable partnerships in the Valiant Universe. The issue, published by Valiant Entertainment, is written by Matt Kindt (4001 A.D.). Additionally, art is by Khari Evans (Harbinger) and Andres Guinaldo (Justice League Dark). It also features covers by Mike Choi, Diego Latorre, Ryan Bodenheim and Marc Laming.
To begin, this is a glimpse into the future of the Valiant Universe in last year’s Book of Death: The Fall of Ninjak which revealed that Colin King and the Eternal Warrior would form an instrumental partnership—known as The Fist & The Steel. Furthermore, Ninjak #19 continues the tale that began in the previous issue, depicting the story of the team up’s formation decades in the future while Ninjak battles against a mysterious affliction in the present.
Still Some Open Answers about Colin King
Kindt writes both stories, while Evans, with colorist Ulises Arreola, provides the art for the feature story set decades in the future. Guinaldo, with colorist Chris Sotomayor, is the artist for the “The Lost Files” back-up story, additionally, it features a guest appearance by Livewire. Dave Sharpe handles the letters throughout.
King is alive in the future, therefore, he, clearly, survives the Deadside-spawned cancer currently racking his body. However, is his aging body still up to the task of vanquishing evil-doers in the future? After all, he is no mystic immortal like the Eternal Warrior. And how many of Ninjak’s old foes are still active in the future? Are there more familiar faces, in addition to the multi-armed Fakir? Check out the preview below for the answers!
