Marvel Comics has released an early first look at the upcoming Prowler #1. The early issues of the series will tie in to “The Clone Conspiracy,” which runs across several Spider-Man titles beginning this month. The series is written by Sean Ryan (New Suicide Squad) and features art by Jamal Campbell and Javier Saltares. Travel Foreman provides the issue’s standard cover.

In addition to Foreman’s cover, Prowler #1 will also feature a number of variant covers, as is Marvel’s standard practice these days. For starters, there is a regular variant cover (if that even makes any sense) by interior artist Jamal Campbell. Plus, a teaser variant by Mike Deodato and an action figure variant by John Tyler Christopher. Also, a hip-hop variant by Ray-Anthony Height, a Champions variant by Bobby Rubio and, finally, a classic variant by Bob Hall (West Coast Avengers co-creator, Shadowman, Freemind).

What Is Prowler’s Part in the “Clone Conspiracy”?

Recently, Hobie Brown, a.k.a. Prowler, was acting as a stand-in for Peter Parker as Spider-Man. However, as Brown’s own series starts, readers find he is in the employ of The Jackal, one of Spidey’s greatest villains! Yes, the mastermind behind “The Clone Saga” from the ’90s is back and he has discovered a way to return people from the dead. Dr. Miles Warren is using his new discovery to make deals with Spider-Man’s greatest foes to bring back their loved ones in exchange for taking out Parker.

So, why would one of Parker’s closest allies align himself with one of Spider-Man’s worst enemies? That is the mystery that awaits readers as they dive into this new series. Perhaps, the returning Madame Web will provide the answers.

Prowler #1 hits comic shelves on October 26th, with a final order cut-off date of October 3rd. You can help insure Prowler’s first ongoing series lasts by pre-ordering with your retailer today. To find a comic shop near you, use the Comic Shop Locator.
