Suicide Squad gets the Honest Trailers treatment

Suicide Squad was at best a pretty divisive movie. That makes it pretty ripe material for the guys at Honest Trailers. And with the movie coming out on physical media next week, the timing seems perfect for the Honest Trailer for Suicide Squad.

And just to be clear here, I didn’t hate Suicide Squad. It has some fun action and some great performances. That being said there is hardly one thing in this trailer that isn’t a valid criticism. The villain is trope after trope after dumb trope. Cara Develigne as Enchantress is terrible. Joel Kinnaman is worthless. Most of the cast isn’t given a lot to do, justification for why they are on this team, etc.

And then there’s Jared  Leto’s performance as the Joker. I honestly thought he was fine, but just not given much screen time. However these guys make a comparison that is so perfect I now can’t get it out of my head. Like if Jared Leto shows up in The Batman movie, it’ll come to mind. It really just seems like DC can’t catch a break with their movies though. What we can only hope is that this particular movie was made during the period where Zack Snyder pretty much seemed to be setting the tone for everything and now Geoff Johns is in charge with Zack really being just one director on one movie (granted, it’s their biggest movie and arguably if Justice League flops I can’t see them making any more). Suicide Squad is out on Digital HD now, but will be out on Blu-Ray & DVD next Tuesday, December 13th. Look for our review of the Extended Cut then.
