NBC’s Powerless Debuts In February
Powerless focuses on normal people dealing with living in a superhero world
Today there’s no shortage of comic book-based TV shows. But while plenty are light-hearted, none are really a comedy, and none definitely focus on what it’s like to be a regular person in such a world. NBC’s Powerless, based in the DC Comics universe, will be the first show specifically featuring those traits.
While we’ve known about Powerless for awhile now, we haven’t known when it would start airing, and now we have a premiere date. Powerless will premiere on NBC Thursday, February 2nd at 8:30 pm PT/ET. The show stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and more as insurance adjusters. If you need a reminder, check out the show’s official description (and the trailer is out there if you look, but not officially released yet):
"In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero."

Well, I’ve seen the trailer and it honestly looks super terrible. But the word out of San Diego Comic Con, where they did show the pilot, was pretty positive. And it does have a very talented comedic cast. We’ll see for ourselves if Powerless has the super power of lasting more than one season when it premieres Thursday, February 2nd on NBC.
