Batman is putting the brakes on Amanda Waller’s Task Force X in Justice League vs. Suicide Squad

The biggest event of the year for DC starts this Wednesday, as the first mega-crossover event of Rebirth happens! No, not the DC Rebirth Holiday Special! It’s Justice League vs. Suicide Squad!

In Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, Task Force X is a covert team, the Justice League isn’t really aware of their existence. But Batman knows because of course he does, he’s Batman! And he’s decided this experiment of Amanda Waller’s forcing bad guys to do good things is a failed one and needs to be shut down. And he’s bringing in the rest of the Justice League to make it happen.

Writer Joshua Williamson talked to DC All Access about the premise of Justice League vs. Suicide Squad. Williamson says it’s a story about redemption, and if being a villain on the level of someone in the Suicide Squad, you can actually achieve redemption. He also teases some of the head-to-head match-ups you’ll see in the series, such as Wonder Woman vs. Harley Quinn & Aquaman vs. Killer Croc. Check out the video below:

As Williamson says in the video, there’s a third part at play, Maxwell Lord and his evil league of evil that ultimately the Justice League and Suicide Squad will band together and team up to defeat. But this won’t merely be a clash that’s forgotten once it’s done. It leads to the formation of the Justice League of America, which will include Batman (but he’ll remain on the Justice League as well), Killer Frost and Lobo and is getting its own book in February. But the road to that all starts in Justice League vs. Suicide Squad #1, which is out this Wednesday, December 21st!
