The Reason It’s Great

Kick-Ass is probably the story of every comic book nerd—if we were to actually go ahead and carry out the crazy things going through our heads. In a way, it’s a total tribute to all the people who wanted to make a difference, but lacked the capacity to do so.

Mark Millar’s slick writing and memorable quotes are what make this a great story. The use of modern technologies (e.g. viral videos, social media, etc.) are what really ground the story and make it that much more believable.

Comic fans weren’t the only ones who loved this. As they say in Hollywood, “If you write it, they will come.” And that’s exactly what the studios did. In 2010, the film adaptation was released to theaters garnering rave reviews. In 2013, the sequel was released which was also based on the comic’s highly-acclaimed sequel, Kick-Ass 2.

The third installment, Kick-Ass 3 was released in 2013 for a total of eight issues. Like the previous two, Kick-Ass 3 received positive reviews. There’s no word yet on whether or not there will be a film adaptation of the third series. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
