Marvel Can’t Stop Making Fun Of Batman v Superman
Marvel rips yet again on 2016’s cinematic punching bag, Batman v Superman
Ok, Marvel we get it. Batman v Superman was a bad film. We knew that when we saw it. We knew that when you made fun of it the first time. And the second and the third. Does Marvel understand that a joke can stop being funny if you keep beating it like the dead horse it is?
Obviously not because for the fourth time in in 2016, they are making a joke about Batman v Superman again. I think this one is more egregious, because it’s in a comic series that already made a BvS joke earlier this year.
In Spider-Man/Deadpool #12, the original odd couple come up against a very muscular bearded man. The web-slinger says, he looks like Santa Claus in a movie directed by Zack Snyder, “but instead of delivering presents, he works out and murders”. This doesn’t directly reference Batman v Superman, but is a clear dig a Snyder’s penchant for turning beloved comic book characters into humorless murderers. At some point, these constant jokes stop being funny, and just feel incredibly mean-spirited. Especially being in the same series that already recently made a big joke about this. I don’t want to defend Zack Snyder, he has made one worthwhile film in my opinion (Dawn Of The Dead), and everything else he has done is trash. Especially Batman v Superman. But at some point you move on. At least make fun of a different DC film that got trashed by reviews. I mean, you haven’t even touched on Suicide Squad, which is better, but not by a ton. I hope Justice League is at least decent because if it’s not, I feel like we are just going to keep seeing Marvel going back to this well again and again…
