Via Disney’s D23 preview page, we have confirmation that Doctor Strange will appear with the God of Thunder and the Jade Giant in the upcoming, highly anticipated Thor: Ragnarok. The Sorcerer Supreme made his film debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe late last year (yes, it’s 2017 already, so it is last year).
And, if audiences recall, during Doctor Strange’s mid-credits sequence, Thor met Strange in New York and had a friendly chat (I’m sure the God of Thunder definitely liked his new “wizard” friend given the fact that Strange made the Asgardian’s stein “bottomless”). As of now, the amount of Doctor Strange’s involvement in the new film is unknown. Disney’s preview page only gave a very brief and vague description of how the heroes will work together:
"If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new."
Plot Specifics
Thor’s latest appearance was in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). At the end of that film, he took off to seek out answers for his disturbing vision. Rumors also point to the involvement of troublemaker Loki.
The specifics of Thor: Ragnarok are currently unknown. However, fan-favorite Bruce Banner / Hulk will have a significant role. Also, the Planet Hulk storyline will be heavily incorporated into the film. Stay tuned as we bring you the latest news on this exciting MCU installment.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released in North America on November 3, 2017. It will be directed by Taika Waititi, written by Stephany Folson, and star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange, and Sam Neill in an undisclosed role.
