Barbara Gordon meets a new friend with close ties to an old enemy in Batgirl #7

Barbara Gordon has been busy traveling to the far reaches of the globe as of late. However now it’s finally time to settle down for at least a little bit and return to her familiar home of Burnside. But as they say, you can’t go home again as Barbara Gordon finds this Burnside she has come back to bears little resemblance to the one she left behind.

To top that all off, the son of one of Batman’s oldest enemies, the Penguin, has taken up residence in Burnside and owns a hot new club in the area. Just like his dad. But his dad also does shady dealings out of that club, so what is Oswald Cobblepot III’s purpose here? Check out a synopsis & gallery preview of Batgirl #7:

"Son of Penguin” part one! Babs is back in Burnside! But everything’s…different-friends, school, even Burnside itself. Batgirl must determine her next steps when she realizes that the shady new tech mogul moving into her neighborhood is none other than the estranged son of the Penguin!"

Now, it was already reported months ago that Batgirl would have a new love interest, and that it would be the son of The Penguin. So it’s easy to guess where this story goes. At the time of that story, it was reported his name was Ethan Cobblepot though, not Oswald Cobblepot III. My guess if he is still going by “Ethan” would be that it’s his middle name, and he goes by that because of the obvious negative association with the name Oswald Cobblepot.

I don’t know if this will be a long term relationship, but hopefully it lasts long enough for the Gordons and the Cobblepots to have an extremely awkward family dinner (possibly with Bruce Wayne as a guest since he’s practically family). Batgirl #7 will be available January 25th.
