Margot Robbie garners more acclaim for her role as Harley Quinn with a People’s Choice Award!

Despite some very mixed reviews of Suicide Squad, it was generally agreed that Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn did an amazing job in the movie. This is evidenced by the fact that she is getting her own spin-off, Gotham City Sirens, in the near future, as well as even receiving acclaim in the form of a Critics’ Choice Award for the role.

And the accolades just keep building. Recently, the 43rd annual People’s Choice Awards were held, and Margot Robbie won in the category of Favorite Action Movie Actress. She was up against the likes of Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawrence, Shailene Woodley and Scarlett Johansson for the award. If you’re unfamiliar with the People’s Choice Awards, here’s an official description:

"PeoplesChoice.com is a year-round entertainment destination dedicated to covering the biggest stories in movies, music, TV, and style. An extension of the People’s Choice Awards, the daily news entity offers breakdowns of major moments in pop culture, exclusive interviews with celebrities, and original video series. The site also hosts polls, brackets and discussions, giving fans a platform to voice their opinions until the annual award show, when they can vote for their favorites to win in various categories."

That seems like an easy win for Margot Robbie considering the competition. I really like Saldana, Lawrence & Johansson (I haven’t really seen anything Shailene Woodley has been in so I can’t judge her), but they definitely didn’t really dive into their roles like Robbie did. Robbie completely got into character, affected a unique accent, and really nailed the spirit of a very popular and beloved fictional character. To the point where I’m fairly positive Warner Bros. wants to build an entire franchise around her if they can.
