Preview: Batman #16

Batman’s problems with Bane have just begun in issue #16, part one of “I Am Bane”

Batman may have escaped Santa Prisca with Psycho Pirate in tow and is back in Gotham, but that’s hardly the end of things. Bane, the man who broke the bat, is coming after not just the Dark Knight, but all of his friends and family. When they last met, Bane had given up Venom, the drug that gave him super strength, and Batman and his own personal Suicide Squad of criminals barely survived the encounter. Now full of purpose and rage, the ruler of Santa Prisca has taken the drug again to finish off the Caped Crusader and the rest of the Bat-family once and for all. If you aren’t sure who the other dude with Batman is, that’s Bronze Tiger. Admittedly I have only loosely been following this storyline, but I have no clue as to why Bats needs to keep everybody safe for 5 days. Why 5? Did Bane take one super powerful dose of Venom that will last that long? Is that how long it will take to for Psycho Pirate to actually cure Gotham Girl and then she can help fight Bane and turn the tide? And hey, not that Bane isn’t a major threat, but can’t most of the Bat-family take care of themselves pretty well? I’d imagine if they all teamed up they could handle him.
