Matt Reeves graduated from USC’s prestigious Cinematic Arts program where he produced the award-winning Mr. Petrified Forest. He later went on to direct a number of episodes of Felicity—a drama created by J.J. Abrams.

The professional relationship with Abrams would prove fruitful when Reeves was chosen as the director for the 2008 hit Cloverfield—a found-footage film that was produced by Abrams.

Reeves’s career continued to climb and he soon took the helm of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)—the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)—which was released to critical and box-office acclaim.

Reeves’s upcoming project will be War of the Planet of the Apes—the third installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise—which is targeted to be released on July 14, 2017.

As of this report, an official synopsis for The Batman has not been released. However, the storyline is known to heavily feature Deathstroke as the main villain. Ben Affleck will still star in the role of the Dark Knight, who made his debut in the DC Extended Universe in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Batman is slated for a 2018 release. The film will be directed by Matt Reeves, written by Geoff Johns, Ben Affleck, and Chris Terrio, and will star Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Joe Manganiello as Slade Wilson / Deathstroke.
