Gerard Jones Trade Paperbacks Cancelled By DC Comics
By D. Goodman
In the wake of criminal allegations against writer Gerard Jones, two collections of his work have been cancelled by DC Comics.
For those of you hoping to complete your 1990s Justice League International and Green Lantern runs in trade paperback, you may have to wait awhile.
It is being reported by Bleeding Cool that both Justice League: Breakdowns and Green Lantern: Hal Jordan vol.2 have been officially cancelled by DC Comics. The cancellation comes in the wake of writer Gerard Jones being arrested on accusations of child pornography.
As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, last December Jones was arrested for possession of child pornography and uploading graphic content to YouTube. Jones has pleaded not guilty to all charges and it should be noted that Jones has no prior criminal record.
Following his arraignment Jones posted a message on Facebook, which has since been removed, reassuring his fans that his is doing all right.
"“Thank you to all who have offered emotional and spiritual support. More will be revealed with time. I’ll be okay. I’m still me. Take care of yourselves.”"

Given all of that, it shouldn’t come as any shock that DC decided to pull the plug on both collections.
Breakdowns was the crossover that closed out the Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis era of the Justice League. The collection included seven issues of Justice League Europe that had been scripted by Jones.
Green Lantern: Hal Jordan was to have included the first 12-issues of the 90s Green Lantern series that followed the pair of Emerald Dawn miniseries.
It should be understood that this doesn’t mean that the two collections will never see the light of day. In the past when creators have run into legal problems DC would pull the books in question only to put them back in print a few years later. If Jones is found not guilty, there is ever chance they could be put back on the schedule.
Personally I really hope that happens. DC finally collecting the 90s Green Lantern series was something I was really looking forward to. The under appreciated Green Lantern: Mosaic series finally arriving in trade paperback has been a fantasy of mine for over 20 years. It was by far the best, most complex work Jones ever did and I have just about read my issues to death at this point.

But for now, don’t expect to be able to put Breakdowns or Green Lantern: Hal Jordan on your bookshelf anytime soon.
