Marvel Comics has released a preview of X-Men Prime #1, the book set to launch RessurXion and introduce their new mutant titles.

For the past few years, you can be forgiven if you thought Marvel Comics had stopped caring about the X-Men.

The family of titles, which at one time was among some of the best-selling ongoings in comics, had fallen on hard times. With Marvel throwing all their marketing power behind the Avengers and related books, their mutant titles felt like the red-headed stepchild no one wanted to talk about.

With the film rights controlled by 20th Century Fox, many thought Marvel was simply focusing on characters they own instead of giving attention to properties they didn’t make money from. Marvel denied it of course, but it was tough to argue when it was apparent to everyone what was happening.

The result was that the various mutant titles had became a shadow of their former selves. Uninspired crossovers, no clear direction and creative teams that seemed to just phone it in only made things worse.

But it looks like that is about to come to an end and a RessurXion is upon us.

That is what Marvel is calling their latest initiative to breath new life into their mutant family of comics. Spinning out of the Inhumans vs. X-Men miniseries, RessurXion will see a whole cadre of mutant ongoings and new creative teams as well as new directions for the ones sticking around.

It all kicks off with X-Men Prime #1.

The one-shot will feature new stores that introduce three of the new ongoings launching soon. Marc Guggenheim and Ken Lashley introduce readers to the brand new X-Men Gold while Cullen Bunn and Leonard Kirk give fans a taste of X-Men Blue. The book then wraps things up with the all-new, all-deadly Weapon X by Greg Pak and Ibraim Roberson.

And this is just the beginning.

From the Marvel solicitation:

"The RessurXion begins here! In the wake of Inhumans vs. X-Men, the Children of the Atom pick up the pieces and charge headlong into tomorrow! And it’s all kicking off in March’s can’t-miss X-MEN PRIME #1! Featuring a collection of blockbuster creators, the next chapter of the X-Men’s saga begins in this oversized one-shot! Xavier’s dream comes full circle as creators Marc Guggenheim and Ken Lashley give fans a taste of what awaits them in X-MEN GOLD. As Kitty Pryde returns home after a long absence, the student becomes the teacher as she readies herself to lead the X-Men for the first time! Then X-MEN BLUE scribe Cullen Bunn teams with artist Leonard Kirk to take the X-Men Blue team into the Danger Room – with shocking results! Finally, Greg Pak and Ibraim Roberson re-open the WEAPON X program! What secrets lie within, and why are the world’s deadliest mutants being targeted? The kickoff to the must-read X-Men titles of the spring begins on March 29th in X-MEN PRIME #1!"
