Preview: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story #1 From Marvel
By D. Goodman
After a slight delay, Marvel is ready to release their comic book adaption of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this April.
If you are a fan of comics and/or Star Wars, then you know that Marvel and the galaxy far, far away have had a long, long relationship. Marvel was one of the very first companies to license Star Wars and published comics based on the films for decades before Lucasfilm moved the property to Dark Horse.
With both Lucasfilm and Marvel now owned by Disney, no one was shocked when Star Wars comics returned to Marvel in 2015. The new Star Wars series proved to be a huge hit as did the Darth Vader ongoing and just about any other comic with the Star Wars logo on it.
One of the highlights was when Marvel finally published the adaption of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year. Many fans have very fond memories of the Marvel adaptions of the films and they were rewarded with a faithful, entertaining miniseries that let fans relive The Force Awakens in print form.

This April Marvel will publish their adaption of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as a six-issue miniseries. Written by Jody Houser with artwork by Emilio Laiso and Oscar Bazaldua, the series will adapt the hit film into comic book form.
As most will remember, there was a time when we weren’t sure we were going to get an adaption of Rogue One. Due to the infamous reshoots, changes to the story and not wanting to reveal any spoilers, Marvel announced that a Rogue One adaption likely wasn’t going to happen.
However, now that some time has passed and the movie has been a huge success, we are finally getting our Rogue One in comic book form. In addition, the adaption will include material that didn’t make it onto the big screen which make this a must read for Star Wars fans everywhere.
From the Marvel solicitation:
"All appears lost in the fight against the tyrannical Galactic Empire. The Rebellion has discovered the existence of the Empire’s ultimate super-weapon. The Death Star. With the power to wipe planets from existence, the Death Star’s existence spells doom for those seeking freedom. All hope now lies in the hands of new heroes Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor. Their last ditch gambit to steal the Death Star plans are all that stands in the Empire’s way!"
