Josh Brolin is cast as Cable in Deadpool sequel

Many names were thrown out—Michael Shannon, David Harbour, Russell Crowe and even Brad Pitt. However, in a surprising twist, a dark horse has nabbed the role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Brolin will play Cable in a reported four film deal. This will not be Brolin’s first dip into the Marvel Comics world since he also plays Thanos in the MCU. Actors working double-time in the superhero genre seem to be a common theme in the Deadpool franchise. Ryan Reynolds previously played Green Lantern. And Morena Baccarin is currently playing Leslie Thompkins on Fox’s Gotham, as well as the voice of Gideon on The CW’s The Flash.
Brolin will have a lot on his plate, with Avengers: Infinity War currently in production and Deadpool 2 set to begin production very soon. So while he’s destroying the universe with his Infinity Gauntlet, he’ll also be busy dealing with Deadpool.
Speaking of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds also took the time to respond to the breaking news in typical Deadpool fashion.
WARNING: Deadpool uses some flowery language to vent his frustrations
For those who are unfamiliar with Cable, he was created by Deadpool artist Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson. Known to be the opposite of Deadpool, Cable has a very controlled demeanor while also possessing leadership qualities.
Next: Zazie Beetz Cast As Domino
He is also the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey’s clone) in the comics. He was introduced as a newborn infant in Uncanny X-Men #201, but was later reintroduced as an adult in The New Mutants #87. Cable’s abilities include telepathy, technopathy, telekinesis, cybernetic enhancements, and time travel.
Brolin is the latest to join the sequel, as Atlanta star Zazie Beetz was recently cast as Domino. What are your thoughts of Brolin as Cable? Let us know in the comments.
