Chris Evans Gives His Thoughts On A Potential Black Widow Film
By Erik Swann
Chris Evans had a few things to say about a possible Black Widow movie.
Marvel Studios has slowly begun to vary its slate of solo films with characters like Black Panther and Captain Marvel. However, there’s one established MCU hero, who fans have been begging to see take the spotlight: Black Widow. Many think that making a solo film for the character would be a no-brainer, and it appears that Chris Evans is also in that camp.

Evans recently did an interview with Elle, and was asked why there had not been a standalone Black Widow film. The actor admitted that even he is surprised that it hasn’t happened, but does believe that it could be made eventually and that it would be successful:
"“It’s a good question. It would really just clean up wouldn’t it? Scarlett [Johansson] is so good at everything she does. She’s played such a crucial part in the other films. She always makes her presence so felt – even when there are 50 different superheroes running around onscreen. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens at some point in the future. I’m sure Scarlett would be open to it.”"
All of these are fair points. Since her first appearance as the character in Iron Man 2 (2010), Scarlett Johansson has been a mainstay in the MCU. In essence, she really was the first heroine to be introduced to the franchise.

With the character’s popularity among fans and Johansson’s bankability, it definitely makes sense to develop the film. Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige has even mentioned that it’s not an impossibility. However, it all depends on the studio’s upcoming plans. Plus, I think we can all agree that the company isn’t exactly in dire need of a financial or critical hit.
Both Black Widow and Captain America will next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018.
