It’s time to restart the speculation engine for Justice League. Via a Red Carpet News TV interview , we have news that Game of Thrones actor former Game of Thrones actor (hey, these characters drop like flies) Michael McElhatton has been cast in a mystery role for Justice League.

McElhatton has been pretty quiet about his participation sans one small clue: he’ll appear during the film’s “big opening scene” which was “pretty dark.” Recent rumors point to an epic opening battle that pits the combined forces of Atlantis and the Amazons (and possibly Thanagaria) against Darkseid—who’s trying to control three Mother Boxes.

Going off these two signals, we can gander some guesses as to who he might be playing. Could it be a Katar Hol? Maybe the Atlantean king at the time? Or dare we say it—Darkseid himself?

Michael McElhatton is best known for his role as Roose Bolton on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. His character died during Season 6—killed by his own bastard son, Ramsay Bolton. An alumus of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, McElhatton has been active in a variety of roles for theatre, television, and film since the early 1990s.
