Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Starts To Prep For His Cable Role
By Steve Lam
Actor Josh Brolin shares pics of himself getting ready for the make-up required to play Cable.
Now that Cable has been cast, Deadpool 2 is in full pre-production mode. That means costumes, set designing, concept art, and make-up.
Yes, make-up. Or should we say, “Prosthetics.” Actor Josh Brolin shared two Instagram pics of himself getting literally plastered with mold-making material. In one pic, we can see the actor covered from the shoulders up with purple goo. In another pic, he’s mummified in plaster of Paris.

All of this is for his role as the famous time-traveling mutant Cable. Some people may think that this overall head-mold might be a bit overkill, but it depends on which Cable look you’re going for. In some incarnations, Cable is shown with a slightly scarred face and a techno-organic eye. In other incarnations, half of his face, along with his eye, are both techno-organic components.
The extent of the process seen in Brolin’s shared pics may be a hint at what they’re going for—that is, a more dramatic cyborg look. However, Cable and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld shared a concept drawing of what Brolin would eventually look like in full make-up—and it seems much more conservative.
