Supergirl Season 2, Episode 18 Synopsis: “Ace Reporter”
By Steve Lam
This week on Supergirl, Kara’s investigation into Lena’s boyfriend has dangerous consequences.
This week, Supergirl returns for its final sprint of the season. Before the show went on hiatus, many things transpired in Kara’s life—Mon-El cemented his love for her and rejected his parents; and Kara was fired from CatCo for stepping over the line.
Kara is no longer a reporter, and it’s a decision she doesn’t regret. Then again, it really wasn’t her decision to begin with. Faced with a skeptical Snapper who didn’t believe that aliens were getting kidnapped, Kara created her own blog and broke the news to warn the world.

That move didn’t go over too well with her boss. Citing multiple ethics violations, the hard-nosed Snapper fired Kara. It was a depressing moment for her, but she knew she did the right thing. And Mon-El was there to support her through it all.
Speaking of Mon-El, his Daxamite parents paid him a visit, trying to get him to go with them to reestablish their race. The old Mon-El would’ve happily obliged, but the new Mon-El felt unfulfilled sitting on a throne.
Being with Kara definitely changed him, as the former prince now wanted to help those in need. This new attitude didn’t go over too well with his mother, who soon put a hit out on the Girl of Steel.
After a brief fight on his parents’ ship, Mon-El made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with his them anymore. Surprisingly, his father supported this decision. After all, he just wants his son to be happy. However, his mother didn’t take it too well, and saw her husband’s empathy as a form of betrayal. She soon murdered him in cold blood.
This week, Supergirl returns with Lena’s boyfriend presenting a nanotechnology breakthrough. Kara, still a reporter at heart, starts to question his research, and it leads to a dangerous outcome. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:
“Ace Reporter”
"“IZOMBIE’S” RAHUL KOHLI GUEST STARS – Lena’s (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack’s conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she’s inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger."
