After revisiting their favorite space outlaws in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans are already clamoring to see them again in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War. We all know that there will be many current MCU characters showing up, but there may be a number of new characters joining the massive event as well.
Dave Bautista, who plays the hilarious Drax, recently appeared on the Talk Is Jericho podcast (via ComicBook.com), and revealed that some new characters will be appearing in Infinity War. He also briefly explained Marvel’s transition into new phases with new characters:
"“Those are the prominent Avengers that have been in all the films, but they’re really just adding so many characters in this. ‘Cuz they’re also starting to introduce other characters like they did in Captain America [Civil War]. They’ve brought in Spider-Man. But they’re going to start moving into different phases of Marvel. So they’re introducing other characters. Black Panther. They’re gonna do a whole series of Black Panther.”"
The prospect of seeing a lot of new characters in the films is very exciting. Now, all we can do is speculate on who these new players are. With the cosmic realm being a major part of the movie, most have assumed that Captain Marvel might make an appearance. One might even wonder if a cosmic hero like Nova could drop in. The number of possible characters really is endless.

As for moving forward with different characters, that is not surprising. We’ve known that actors like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. are likely coming to the end of their stints with Marvel Studios, and that the company would soon focus on new characters. It’s definitely bittersweet, but at least we’ll have heroes like Black Panther, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange to enjoy for the next several years.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018, and the Untitled Avengers Sequel will follow on May 3, 2019.
