This week on Supergirl, it’s up to Guardian to prevent a scared telekinetic alien boy from attacking National City.

Last week on Supergirl‘s “Alex” episode, Kara and Maggie had to put aside their differences and rescue Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea approached Lena with a business proposition.

The episode started off with Maggie trying to talk two bank robbers down from a hostage situation. However, Supergirl swoops in and puts an end to negotiations, ruining Maggie’s seventeen hours of work.

During a couples night dinner, Kara and Maggie get into an argument. Maggie feels Kara is reckless, always circumventing the law and not following procedure. Kara, on the other hand, thinks Maggie’s methods are ineffectual. Tired of their arguing, Alex leaves.

The next day, both Kara and Maggie grow worried, as Alex has completely disappeared. Soon, Alex’s abductor contacts the DEO and makes his demand—Supergirl must use her abilities to free a prisoner, or Alex will be executed.

After visiting the prisoner, Kara soon learns that he’s the father of a boy both she and Alex knew when they were growing up. The kidnapper is soon captured, but he’s uncooperative. As Maggie grew desperate, she started to see things from Kara’s perspective.

Maggie infiltrates the facility to free the prisoner. However, Kara stops her and uses a more diplomatic method—imploring the prisoner to stop his son from doing something horrible. As Kara and Maggie learned about Alex’s location, they rush to her, saving her just in time.

Meanwhile, Rhea pretended to be an entrepreneur and visited Lena—hoping to get a business partnership to develop a revolutionary transportation device. Lena soon catches on to Rhea’s ruse of pretending to be human. But Lena later warms up to her and the two form a partnership.

This week, Rhea, with Lena’s help, will go forward with her plans. And Guardian is the only one who can calm an alien boy, whose fears could cause him to unleash his telekinetic powers onto National City. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

“City of Lost Children”

"THIS IS US” LONNIE CHAVIS GUEST STARS – When an alien attacks National City, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO learn the alien is a Phorian, an otherwise peaceful race with telekinetic powers. Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) gets a lead on the Phorian’s address but instead of finding the culprit, he finds a very scared boy named Marcus (guest star Lonnie Chavis). Marcus will only trust James so it is up to Guardian to stop the attacks on the city. Rhea’s (Teri Hatcher) plan escalates."
